They donated the land that they are buried on ..

Lucy Harris Bennett and Capt. John Bennett lived in Appling County, Ga. which was cut into Wayne County , Ga. @ 1870's where he died in 1887 and his wife Lucy died in 1889 .
They were buried in the town of Odum Cemetery in Wayne County, Ga.

Captain John Bennett served in the Indian War in Captain James A. Sweat's Company of the Ware County Militia June 9th to August 10, 1838
and
was 4th Corporal in Captain N.J. Halton's Company of Appling County Militia October 6th, 1838 to January 16, 1839 .
He served as Captain in the 583rd district of Appling County (1845-1850)
and
Justice of the Peace in the same district (1837-1841) and (1842-1851) .
He served as State Senator from the 3rd district (1863-1865) ..
