NEW LONDON — Clarence B. Smith, 79, of Linder Street, New London, died at 7:41 p.m. Friday, March 18, in Burlington Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 16, 1897, at Mt. Pleasant, the son of Bertram E. and Ida Shipley Smith. Aug. 18, 1918, at New London, he married Florence E. Willey. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Moose and Eagle lodges, Senior Citizens and was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving: The wife; one son, Laurence, Burlington; two daughters, Mrs. Amel (Ethel) E. Smith, Farmington, Mrs. Jack (Cartha) E. Blythe, New London; one sister, Mrs. Vira Cramblit, Washington, Kans.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren,

Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Monday, Prugh's Chapel, Elder Arnold Wiemann; Aspen Grove cemetery.
