ARPIN - Alfred Ellie, 78, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Bethel Living Center, here, following a lingering illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Altdorf. A concelebrated mass will be officiated by the Revs. James Esser and Joseph Bilgrien. Burial will be in the parish cemetery following cremation.

Ellie was born Oct 10, 1907, in Pound, to the late Christ and Mary Ellie. He married Marie Behselich in Pittsville June 14, 1932.

He farmed in the town of Seneca for 35 years, and was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. for 15 years until retiring.

He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marie; three sons, Donald and Gene, both of Wisconsin Rapids, and Kenneth of Avenue, Md.; four daughters, Betty Roginski of Wisconsin Rapids, Mary Ann Hackley of Hubertus, Dorothy Bowmen of Cedarburg, and Nancy Finley of Florence, S.C.; three brothers, John of Pound, Louie of Watertown, and Christ of Owen-Withee; 26 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, three brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Higgins Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
