Gene C. Ellie, 75, Wisconsin Rapids, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at his residence.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids. The Revs. Al Wierzba, Paul Hoffman and Jim Esser will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery, Altdorf. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids; and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Gene was born June 10, 1935, in Mukwonago, to Alfred and Marie (Behselick) Ellie. He married Yvonne Kissinger on June 26, 1958, in Altdorf. Gene was a milk hauler for Sanna Dairy and then was employed at Elm Lake Cranberry Co. for 32 years, retiring in June 1998. Gene served in the U.S. Air Force from June 1955 until March 1959. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 9 of Wisconsin Rapids. Gene was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, spending time up north at the cabin, and attending grandchildren's events. Gene was an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan.

Gene is survived by wife, Yvonne; four sons, two daughters, and thirteen grandchildren. Gene is also survived by two brothers, four sisters, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Marie Ellie; infant sister, Karen Ellie; and in-laws, Alfred and Louise Kissinger.

Memorials can be designated to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
