Mr Allen was a Baptist minister and was pastor of several churches in the vicinity of Lexington, Lee County,and for several years traveled as association missionary over a large territory.In 1872 he moved to Waco and became pastor of several churches in that section. At the time of his death he was pastor of the East Waco Baptist Church. He was a good preacher,wise counselor and faithful to every trust committed to him. He was baptised on Oct 3, 1858. When he died he was 57 years, 4 months and 7 days old. He married Louisa Jane Parks on 4 Nov 1852 in Benton Co.AL
They were parents of ten children, including daughter Ella "Delia" Cordella Allen b 26 July 1857 Lexington,Tx and died 16 Dec 1940 in Mart McLennan,TX. m. Dr William B. Carpenter, and a son John Edwin Allen.
