The Burial of J. E. Allen
The last remains of J. E. Allen was brought from Waco Saturday morning and funeral services were held at the Methodist church at three o'clock. Rev. Underwood of the Baptist church, assisted by Rev. R. S. Watkins, pastor of the Methodist. After the funeral service his last remains were conveyed to the Albany Cemetery, followed by a large crowd of relatives and friends. Rev Underwood paid a very touching tribute to the life of the deceased, rehearsing his life, and telling of the many noble traits as a citizen, father and husband. The pall bearers were made up of his old time neighbors, men who had been associated with him during his life, and had learned to love and respect him.

his grave into a beautiful bower. Deceased leaves a loving wife. The deceased was 69 years old, had lived in Shackelford County since 1892, Newcomb community being his home. he was a member of the Baptist church, and all his life had been a consistent Christian, did not on;y profess Christianity, but he lived it in his daily life. He was an Excellent citizen, always ready and willing to do his part in the community, county, State and nation. he was a devoted husband and loving father, and in his passing the community and the whole county have sustained a loss that will be hard to overcome. The News extends sympathy to the bereaved wife, brothers and sisters in their sorrow, and may kind providence let the mantle of sorrow rest lightly upon them.
