He was the son of Elias & Eva Shoffner Dinger and was born in the Dora sector where he spent his entire life. In December, 1904, he married Mary Reed, who survived him.
He had devoted his life to farming with unusual success & was a member of the Dora Evangelical Church.

His named surviving children were:

Mrs. Paul Hauck, of Punx'y, RD 4 ;
and Mrs. Preston Powell, of Timblin.

These siblings survived him:
Harry, of Punx'y, RD 4;
Leroy, of Dora;
Lawrence, of Punx'y;
Mrs. James Young, of Mayport, RD 4;
Mrs. Elmer Snyder, of Timblin;
Mrs. Robert Christy, of East Butler;
Mrs. Mell Burkett, of Akron;
Mrs. William Miller, of Fredonia;
Mrs. Sherman Barnhart, of Harrisburg.
Also seven grandchildren.

Being despondent over ill health,he took his own life.
Funeral services were held in the Dora Evangelical Church where Rev. A. F. Thomas officiated and burial was made in the Ringgold Cemetery. Friends were received in the Morrison Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
