Elisabeth married Louis Bischoff about 1871. They lived in Chattanooga, TN, and had 5 children. After 12 years of marriage, in May of 1883, Elisabeth obtained a divorce from Louis. At that time, a divorced woman did not have a right to custody of her children; so they remained with their father. Oral tradition passed on by Bunny DeRossett Cobb and Roy DeRossett is that their grandmother returned to Switzerland after her marriage with Louis Bischoff ended and her children never heard from her again.
