Mrs. Anna Abbott, 85, died at her home in Asotin on Tuesday. A neighbor, Mrs. Emma Powell, had gone to her home to take a dinner to Mrs. Abbott and when she couldn't arouse her she called Sheriff Hugh Curry who found Mrs. Abbott lying on the floor.

She had died from an apparent cerebral hemorrhage Curry said.

Mrs. Abbott was born in New York on March 17, 1878. She was married to James Wallace on June 19, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The next year they came to Asotin County, where he first farmed a small acreage and then worked for Pacific Power & Light Co. He died in 1961.

Mrs. Abbott was a member of the Methodist Church and an active member of the ladies aid society for many years. She was also a member of the Narcissa Whitman Club and had a working interest in the Asotin Library for a long time. Only Monday was she there checking books in and out.

Survivors include a daughter, Verna Filley of San Jose, Calif.; a son, Cody Abbott of Lewiston; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
