She was born on May 06, 1917, BANKSTON, CHOCTAW COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, the oldest child of HUGH REED and MARY E. RABUN-KITE. Preceded in death by her parents and siblings; RUBY P. TULLOS, EMMA S. NARON, HUGH REED KITE, JR., JESSIE B. KELLUM, MARY E. SHIELDS, M. RUTH WATTS, and LAY HOWARD KITE. Survivors include her son, PAUL TURNER COLLINS (NANCY) of AZUSA, CA., daughters; MARTHA NELL STEWART (KENNETH) of UPLAND, CA., and MARY FRANCES (FRAN) MUSICK-TAFT, of UPLAND, CA., and a sister, GLENDEL S. WATTS (CHARLES), of HORN LAKE, MS., six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren; a dear friend, VI D'ELIA, of GLENDORA,CA., and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a loving mother, a caring person, always ready to offer her help, and a friend to everybody. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, and loved watching golf and basketball, especially the L. A. LAKERS. She enjoyed gospel, country and banjo music and was also a great cook and seamstress. She was a member of the EMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH in AZUSA, CA.
Visitation is from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on Wednesday, AUGUST 05, 2009, followed by the funeral service held at the OAKDALE CHAPEL. The REV. TONY CALVARY will officiate. Interment will be in the OAKDALE MEMORIAL PARK,GLENDORA, CA.
