GROCERY STORE OWNER DIES; RITES SET
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm at the Waldo Funeral Chapel for Rance Phares, 76, who died at 9:30 pm Friday in a Sherman hospital after suffering a heart attack. His home was 1101 N. Broughton St., where he operated a grocery store.
Dr. Tom Brandon, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Akers Cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers.
Mr. Phares was born Jan. 31, 1888 in Grayson County, a son of Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Phares. He married Zelma Reed on Jan. 29, 1915.
He operated a grocery store on E. Houston and W. Houston St. for many years before moving his store to the Broughton St. address five years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Herbert and David Phares of Sherman; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Sollis of Sherman and Mrs. John Sims of Highway 82 west of Sherman; and several nieces and nephews.
