She was born April 30, 1908, in Iredell County, daughter of the late Archie Preston and Martha Lula Millsaps Sprinkle. She was the last of fourteen children and a devoted and faithful homemaker and mother. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro. She had a great love for children and music, enjoyed writing poetry, and was an accomplished song writer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on August 23, 1968, by her husband, Lee Parks Millsaps, whom she married on June 27, 1928; three sons, Steve, Randy and Martin Millsaps; a grandson; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild.
She is survived by eight children, Maxine Jenkins of North Wilkesboro, Burma (Bill) Bellingar of Union Grove, Frankie Hinson of Landis, Archie (Carol) Millsaps of Taylorsville, Mary Ann Pharr of Statesville, Lavonne Call of Wilkesboro, Ronnie (Minnie) Millsaps of North Wilkesboro, and Nancy (Rayford) Branton of Statesville; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating Anna Lou's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at New Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Millsaps, Rev. Brad Pharr and Rev. Tim Call officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
