Minnie W. Relph, daughter of Jacob and Pauline Schreck Hupp, was born December 30, 1886 in Lucas County, Iowa. She passed away at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital in Chariton, March 31, 1973, at the age of 86 years, 3 months and one day.
Her entire life was spent in the farming community of Benton Township, except for the past two years, when she had been in the nursing home.
She was united in marriage to Edmund J. Relph on May 5, 1909. To this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Lloyd, one daughter, Susie, one infant grandson, Doyle Eugene Relph, one grandson-in-law, Howard Hull, three brothers and one sister.
She leaves to mourn her passing three sons, George and Walter of Russell, Eddie of Cambria; four daughters-in-law, Emma and Edna, Mary of Mooresville, Mo., and Louise of Cambria; one son-in-law, Dean Boozell; one sister, Bertha Hull of Ottumwa; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
At an early age she accepted the Lord as her Saviour and attended services at the Mt. Carmel Country Church. Later she transferred her membership to the First Baptist Church at Russell.
She was a kind and loving mother, always thoughful of the needs of her family and others. She was a good neighbor and friend to all she met.
Funeral services were held at the Woodman Funeral Home in Russell with the Rev. Wayne A. Snyder in charge. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery.
