Funeral services for Mrs. Mary B. Stover were held Tuesday, January 1, 1985 at 2:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ira Singleton officiating. Interment was in the Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville with the H.S. Smith Funera Home in charge of services.
Mrs. Stover was born in Creal Springs Illinois on November 28, 1896 and departed this life at the Pemiscot County Memorial Medical Center in Hayti on December 30, 1984 at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 2 days.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. Hiram N. Langley and Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Kent Langley. She attended schools in Caruthersville.
On May 14, 1919 in Thornton, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Mr. Joseph Earl Stover. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1973.
Mrs. Stover was a retired merchant.
She was a former member of the disbanded Rebecca Lodge Number 774, American Legion Auxillary 88 and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Helen Black of Caruthersville; one son, Joseph E. Stover, Jr. of Little Rock, Arkansas; two step-daughters, Mrs. Velma Finley of Granite City, Illinois and Mrs. Nellie Bell of Stl Louis; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 16 step-grand children and 16 step-great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Hardy Privett, Carl Anderson, Woodrow Cobb, Darryl Roberts, Mack Malone and Woodrow Watkins.
