William H. Langley, 68, former resident of Caruthersville but more recently living in Doniphan, died Thursday, June 6, at Veteran's Hospital in Poplar Bluff after a long illness.
Mr. Langley was born in Creal Springs, Ill., on November 29, 1888, the son of Hiram and Sarah Langley and moved to Caruthersville with his parents when he was about 16 years old. He served in the first World War, receiving his discharge in 1918.
An engineer by profession, he lived in Caruthersville until about 14 years ago, and for the past three years has lived in Doniphan, Mo.
In Benton, Ark., on February 2, 1942, he was married to Mrs. Rose Corbin who survives. He also leaves two sons, Luther and Charles Langley, of Paducah, Ky.; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Erwin, Mrs. Mary Warren, Mrs. Betty Carlson and Mrs. Alpha Sumbot; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Medlin, Mrs. Mary Stover and Mrs. Anna Rushing all of this city; and several stepsons.
Funeral services were held last Saturday morning at the First Christian church with the Rev. John L. Sennett officiating. Burial was in Maple cemetery where a military service was held by Company B of the National Guard and with H.S. Smith Funeral Home service.
Relatives here for the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. J. Corbin, Mr. and Mrs. Jet Corbin of St. Louis, Mrs. Les Davenport, Houston, Texas; Tommy Corbin, Doniphan; Lawrence Hood, Chaffee; Henr;y Hood, Mrs. Ruth Hunter and Mrs. Zora Carbaugh, Illmo, Mo.; Earl Stover, Blytheville; and Mr. and Mrs. Barnett of Fisk, Mo.
