Quimby and Virginia were married 4 Oct., 1868 in Madison Co., IA. They farmed. They lived in Ohio Twp., Madison Co.; Gillets Grove Twp., Clay Co.; Peterson Twp, Clay Co.; and then to Des Moines... all of Iowa. They did live in Nebraska for a brief time.
To them, 11 children were born. Those not yet linked are:
*Jesse Roscoe Pierce 1880-1954
*Coral Pierce d. about age 2 in Nebraska
[The Painter Poem by Isaac Painter; 1907]
"Virginia Painter Pierce, at Preston, Iowa,
With her husband and family does stay." pg 27
"When Virginia Painter was a very little child,
Her parents settled in Iowa on Prairie wild.
When Virginia was about eighteen years of age,
To one Quinby Pierce she became engaged,
And they married on October 4th, 1868,
As husband and wife, their lives did dedicate.
They have now lived together about forty years,
Unto them have been born ten children dear.
Anna, Mary, Stella M., Lizzie and Pearl C.,
Jesse R., Thomas C., Coral C., Fay L. and Della P.
Anna Pierce entered the matrimonial state,
With one Theodore Pagett, as his help mate.
But of her brothers and ssters, I cannot now tell,
Whether married, or in single blessedness, they dwell.
Virginia Painter Pierce's head is turning gray,
And the Quinby Pierce family live in Iowa.
At or near town of Peterson, they stay.
May their last day be their best day,
And may the Pierce family prosper,
With the best regards of Isaac Painter." pg 65
