Mrs. Betty Jane Steele, 78, Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg, formerly of Roaring Spring, died Saturday morning, May 29, 1999, at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.
She was born May 7, 1920, in Duncansville RD, the daughter of the late Charles W. and Lottie (Brubaker) Hoover. She was twice married, first to Daniel E.Claar July 25, 1942. He died July 4, 1981. She then married Arthur H. Steele Jan 1, 1984. He died March 20, 1985.
Mrs. Steele was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring, and previously served as a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene. She also previously conducted Bible studies at Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg.
She taught elementary school in Ohio.
Mrs. Steele was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and Lock Haven State Teachers College.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at J. Gary Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring.

STEELE - Funeral services for Betty Jane Steele of the Personal Care Unit, Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg, will be held at 11 a. m. Tuesday at J. Gary Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, by Pastor Galen Brumbaugh. Interment will be made in Diehls Crossroads Cemetery, North Woodbury Township. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg, or First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring. Mrs. Steele is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Allen L, Homer F. Sr., and Ralph E. Sr.; and sisters, Elva M. Metzker and Dora Cochran.
