Mrs. Juanita Autry Riggs died July 5, 1982, in her home in Caruthersville at the age of 65. She was the wife of Cecil Riggs and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Autry. Mrs. Riggs was born in Newbern, Tenn., March 6, 1917, and moved to Pemiscot County as a small girl with her family.
She attended schools in Newbern and at Cottonwood Point. In 1935 she married her husband in Caruthersville. The Riggs family moved to Caruthersville from the McCarty community in 1971. Mrs. Riggs was a member of the Baptist Church.
Services were held July 7 in the chapel of the H.S. Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Pallbearers were Wayne Keller, Larry Green. Doyle Southerland, Jerry Riggs, J.D. Robinson, and Jerry Strawn. Interment was in the Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville.
Survivors along with her husband are three sons, Joey, Mitchell, and Gary all of Caruthersville; two daughters, Mrs. Jo Ann McGraw of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Anita Cain of Caruthersville; a brother, Milton Autry of Union City, Tenn.; five sisters, Mrs. May Harris of Dyersburg, Mrs. Altie Stanfield of Ridgely, Tenn., Mrs. Iva Parrish pf Chicago, Mrs. Estelle Franks of Atlanta, and Mrs. Odell Massey of Bethel Springs, Tenn.; and twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
