John studied at Harvard. In 1664 he became the first Recorder of Stonington and married Hannah Thompson. He was a Capt. of one of the four Conn. Regiments in King Phillips War and credited with the capture of Canochet, the Chief Sachem of the Narragansetts. Before his death, he gave son Joseph the homestead farm in Stonington, and sons John and Thomas all the land in Preston,CT. I found his gravesite in 1995 and have NO picture.
[Thank you, Brian, for adding the photo of the new tombstone.]
Capt. John's married Hannah Thompson in 1664. She is linked here BUT has no known gravesite. They had 6 children.

Son John, Memorial# 24503583, and and his wife Mary Starkweather are buried in Griswold.
