The Death Cert. for Joseph Whitlock states he was born 7 Dec. 1889 in Mayfield, Sanpete, Utah. However other family records suggest he was born 5 Dec. 1888 the same day as his twin brother Hyrum, also born Mayfield, Sanpete, Utah.

His tombstone states he was born 5 Dec. 1888. In his mother Mary Ann Jensen Whitlock's Bio. in "Women of Faith and Fortitude" it states Joseph was born 5 Dec. 1888.

See Utah Certificate of Death No. 10005001012, Birth No.143, State File No.50-160014 for discrepancy of birth.

Joseph Whitlock died from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Piute county, one and 1/2 miles north of Junction, Piute, Utah on Highway 89. The Death Cert. also states death as 18 Dec.1950 which is correct as does his obituary which appeared the in Salt Lake Telegram newspaper dated 12/29/1950.
