Olga Mathilde Schoenfield was born on 23 January 1899 in Sublime, Lavaca County, Texas. She was the daughter of Paul Herman Schoenfield and Dorothea Schumaker Schoenfield. She was the only girl in the family, having four brothers: Clarence, Leo, Leonard, and Alvin.

About 1912, the Schoenfield family moved from Sublime to Taiton in Wharton County, Texas. Here she met Leo Bodungen; they married on 7 Nov 1917 in Wharton County, Texas. They had one son, Willard, and three daughters, Evelyn, Esther, and Isabel.

Olga Schoenfield Bodungen died on 17 February 1951 in El Campo, Wharton County, Texas. Cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage; she was only 52 years of age.
