FORMER ASSESSOR REMOVED BY DEATH
Jefferson, December 8 – Elmer E. Shearer, former assessor, school director and retired farmer of North Codorus Township, died at his home at this place at 10 o’clock, this morning from a complication of diseases, following several months’ illness. He was aged 74 years, four months and 12 days.
The deceased was a charter member of Greenmount United Brethren Church, near Neiman, and served as a trustee of the church for the last 48 years.
Surviving are his widow, Jane Shue Shearer, and these children: Mrs. Mary J. Rohrbaugh, near here; Mrs. William H. Rohrbaugh, Glenville; Wilson E. Shearer, this place, and Luke E. Shearer, Codorus Township, near here, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lovina Rohrbaugh, York; John D. Shearer, Codorus; Mrs. Frank Cornbower, near here; Mrs. Sarah Miller, Saginaw, and Chester Shearer, York; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from his late residence, this place, on Sunday at 10 a.m., with concluding obsequies at the Jefferson United Brethren Church. Rev. William Beattie, pastor of the Jefferson United Brethren charge, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Jefferson Cemetery.
Funeral Director C. O. Goodling, of Seven Valleys has charge of arrangements.
