Mrs. Melinda Capper died at her home in Deersville, this county, on Tuesday, March 9, 1886, after a short illness. Her age was eighty one years. She had been a faithful member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church for many years, and a true and devoted Christian. She was the mother of twelve children, ten sons and two daughters. She was the mother of Mr. M. Capper of this place.

The 1850 census lists D. Capper (male) age 24 and John Capper age 14 as additional sons in the family. Their full names and dates are not known, and the 10th son's identity is unknown.
