MITCHELL, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN (AKA GABRIEL CAPPER) - d. 1/22/1929 - Newman Independent, Newman IL
Dr. B. F. Mitchell Dies at Soldiers Home Hospital at Danville on Tuesday January 22 Buried at Cemetery There Funeral Held Thursday January 24
Word was received in this city last weekend of the death of Dr. Benjamin Franklin Mitchell, at the Soldier's Home, in Danville Ill, on Tuesday Morning January 22. The funeral rites and burial took place at the Home on Thursday January 24, at 9:30.
Dr. Mitchell was a well-known citizen of Newman, having practiced dentistry in this city for many years. In his younger days he was one of the best in his profession in this part of the state and had a reputation far and wide.
His many friends in this city were very much displeased at the authorities of the Soldiers' Home for the fact that no one was notified here of his death until after the burial. Several of the boys of '61 would liked to have attended his funeral, and pay their respects to their old comrade.
Dr. Mitchell was seemingly in his usual health until a few days before his death, and as yet we have failed to learn the cause of his death. He had been a member of the home since last September.
