Left NY for CA 1849-51 moved first to Oregon and then to Olympia Washington. Married 1853 Emma Hartsock dau. of Gallentine Hartsock and Elizabeth Nelson. Four children, Inez (aka Nettie), James E., Lillian L., Eugene S. Steamboat engineer and manufacturer of water pipe. It may be that the initial N is for Nanny.
