Lester 'Les' Russell Jessop was the son of Richard and Jean­ette Shaffer Jessop. He was a native of Millville and received his education in Millville school.

On August 10, 1911, he married Carrie Christina Anderson at Paris, Idaho. She was born at Hyrum, Utah, the daughter of Jens Christian Krogh Anderson and Hannah Chrestine Sorensen.

The Jessops lived in Idaho and Wyoming before returning to Millville where they lived for thirty-six years.

Les was known as one of the best horsemen in Utah, and he collected many prizes in riding and roping. He worked for nine years as range rider for the Blacksmith Fork Cattlemen's Association, and he was also employed by Amalgamated Sugar Company.

Their children were: Keith, Lucille, Carma, Afton, Fern, lone, Virginia, Sheldon, Don, Melvin, Gary, Calvin, Dixie and Margene.
