Branner C. Easterly was born Dec. 7, 1831 near Greenville, Tennessee, and died at the home of his son-in-law, A. M. Carson, at Osborne, Kansas, Nov. 9, 1905 after a very brief illness.

He came to Jackson county, Ill. in 1850 and was married to Miss Martha J. Stivers in 1857. Unto this union five children were born, one of whom died when young. His widow and four children survive him. He was a soldier in the late rebellion, enlisting Aug. 12, 1862 and came out August 5, 1865 and belonged to the 81st Illinois Volunteer Infantry, going immediately into active service.

He was a member of the M. E. church in Illinois and the funeral services were held at the M. E. church at Osborne, Nov. 10, conducted by Rev. Gilpin of the Christian church. The interment was made in the Center cemetery, west of Downs, Kansas. The relatives have the sympathy of community. W. L. Cannon
