MRS. EMELINE PRICE
Emeline Markham, daughter of Asa B. and Harriet Markham, was born May 4, 1843, at Pekin, Ohio, and died June 13, 1933, at her home in Russell, Iowa, at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 9 days.
At the age of 13 she moved with her parents to McDonough county, Illinois. She was married to Miles Price on January 13, 1862, at Quincy, Ill., by the regimental chaplain.
To this union were born nine children, of whom five have preceded her in death. Those living are Mrs. Harriet Conner, Chas. S., Lu Ida, and Asa A., all of Russell. Her husband was called in death in 1916.
In 1876 they moved from Illinois to Iowa and located on a farm southeast of Russell. More than thirty years ago they moved to Russell where she spent the remainder of her life. To know her was to love her, for all were greeted with happy smiles.
In 1879 she was converted and joined the Christian church at LaGrange, Iowa. Her long life of Christian service has been a testimony of her faith to all those with whom she has been associated.
Those remaining to mourn their loss, besides the four children are 24 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren, also two sisters and one brother, and a large number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals, were held at the Baptist church in Russell on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment took place in the Russell cemetery.
