Dee Albert Broadbent, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother returned home to his Heavenly Father on May 5, 1996 following a massive stroke. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family, including his sweetheart, Belva.

Dee was born July 9, 1911 in Heber, Utah to David Albert and Mima Melissa Murdock Broadbent, the sixth of their 14 children. He attended Wasatch High, graduating in 1928. Following his service in the California Mission he married Belva Wilson Broadbent on December 21, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to Logan, utah, where Dee continued his college education, receiving his degree in Agricultural Economics from Utah State University. he also earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois. Dee joined the staff of Utah State University in 1938 and retired 39 years later in 1976, having served as professor, assistant director of the Agricultural Experiment Station and 23 years as business manager and vice president of the university.

Dee was a devoted and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions, including 25 years as high counselor in six different stakes. With Belva as his companion, he completed three additional missions as director of the Mormon Batallion Visitor's Center in San Diego, California; temple officiator in the Atlanta, Georgia LDS Temple, and in the Cache Family History Library. He found great joy in his service as a stake Patriarch and temple sealer, particularly as he extended those blessings to his own grandchildren.

Because Dee has always had a great desire to help young people achieve an education many college students have received their degrees with the help of scholarships given by the Broadbents.

Dee is survived by Belva, his wife, of 62 years, his children, Vay and Clive Walker, Temple, Texas; Allene and Ramon Stucki, Pocatello, Idaho; David James (D.J.) and Kay Broadbent, Racine, Wisconsin; Curtis and Marilyn Broadbent, Logan, Utah; and Kent and Margaret Broadbent, Gallop, New Mexico; a brother, Pres. Harvey M. Broadbent, sisters, Vida Wentz, Margaret Merkley, Mima Hicken, Sara Paulsen and Helen Jonsson. Preceded in death by his young son, Grant Thomas, his parents, two brothers, five sisters.
