Robert M. Burger, 90, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Adams Woodcrest.
He was born on September 21, 1926 in Union Township, Adams County, Indiana to Alva K. & Bertha W. (Welty) Burger. He married Betty L. Barkley on March 26, 1948 in Decatur, Indiana.
Bob retired in 1981 from International Harvester with 36 years of service. He was also a lifelong Adams County farmer.
He was a member of Mt. Victory United Brethren Church where he served as a lay leader and a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Burger of Decatur; son, Michael Lee (Janet) Burger of Hamilton, IN; granddaughter, Jody Ann (Robert) Gillespie of Fremont, IN; grandson, Brian M. Burger & his friend, Tanica Hamman both of Hamilton, IN; daughter-in-law, Nettie Burger of Celina, OH; two sisters, Lucretia (Harold) Minnich of Willshire, OH & Annie Fleming of Decatur, IN; two great-grandsons, Jacob Gillespie & Beckett Burger; and a great-granddaughter, Kati Gillespie.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Ann Burger; son, Lynn Frederick Burger; seven brothers, Frank Burger; Harold Burger; Wayne Burger; Freddy Burger; Theodore Burger; Bryce Burger; & John Burger; and seven sisters, Pearl May Worthman; Margauret Carpenter; Ruth Suman; Francile Harvey; Norma Burger; Mary Shifferly; & Rosa Fox.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Wes Kuntzman officiating. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.
Family & friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
