Franklin R. Burger
Franklin R. Burger, 76, of 241 North Sixth St., a lifelong resident of Adams county and retired employee of Phelps Dodge in Fort Wayne, died at 3:50 a.m. today at Veterans hospital, Fort Wayne, following an extended illness.
Mr. Burger, who retired in 1963, was a veteran of World War 11, and a member of the American Legion in Decatur.
Born in Adams county on Nov. 5, 1898, he was a son of Alva K. and Edna Harden-Burger, and was never married.
Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Harold G. (Francile) Harvey of Decatur; Mrs. Pearl Worthman of Decatur; Mrs. Ruth Suman of route 3, Mrs. Harry (Marguerit) Carpenter of route 3, Bluffton; two brothers, Wayne of route 3, and Harold of Decatur; three half brothers, Bryce of Decatur; John of Convoy, O.; Robert of route 4; four half sisters, Mrs. Ermil (Mary) Shifferly of route 1, Monroe; Mrs. Gorman (Rose) Fox of route 3; Mrs. Harold (Lucritia) Minnick, of route 1, Willshire, O.; Mrs. Norvin (Ann) Thieme of route 1. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Winteregg-Linn & Haggard funeral home, with Rev. Cloyce C. Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. Military graveside rites will be performed by American Legion posts 43.
