According to James' granddaughter, Jean Lane Ivey, the obituary for James is incorrect in the naming of his parents. He was actually a son of Archibald and Cassandra Richardson Laney. James changed the spelling when he moved from NC to SC. His children were:

Vernon Harvey
Mamie Rlene
Carrie Leeora
Rubin Berry
Willie Lane
Lenard Governor (Bud)
Elvie Clyde
James Harvey

James married (1) Addie Wilkerson, and (2) Doris Graddy.

Note:
Have been unable to find where Addie is buried. According to census records, she was a daughter of Ruben and Fannie Wilkerson and born September 1886. Addie and James were married on June 29, 1902, had at least seven children and were living in Johnston County, NC in 1920, which is when James' obituary says she died. I suspect Addie might be buried in the same cemetery as her mother.

According to the 1930 census, James was married to Doris Graddy about 1925. I've been unable to find any info on her other than she was born about 1907.
