Mary Ann Drummund was the daughter of Andrew Drummond and Mary Baird; wife of Hugh Campbell. She was born aboard ship in 1839; her birth recorded in Cork, Ireland. She came to America on March 16, 1867, through Castle Garden, New York, with her husband Hugh Campbell and living children Mary Ann, Margaret, and Jane Baine. Buried in Scotland she left behind Catherine and Elizabeth. Upon arrival to this country the family soon grew to include Dugald born in October 1867, in Peekskill, New York, followed by Anna S., Andrew Drummond and William Drummond born in Hope Valley, Rhode Island.

Margaret and Hugh were married on October 17, 1855 in Glasgow, Scotland, according to the news article in The Evening Bulletin of October 18, 1905 (page 19).
