Dugald Campbell was the son of Hugh Campbell and Mary Ann Drummond, a first generation american and the sixth of nine children. His family arrived at Castle Garden, New York on March 16, 1867 from Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland prior to his birth in October 1867. He enlisted in military service in Baltimore, Maryland on January 26, 1899 in the 62nd company. He was discharged January 27, 1902 having fought in the Phillipine Insurection. He is buried at the Soldiers Home Plot at the North Burial Grounds in Bristol, Rhode Island.
