Mrs. Fred Carr, 57, 1558 McKinley ave., died at 9 p.m. Tuesday while en route home in the family car following a visit with relatives in Leaf River, Ill. She was taken suddenly ill there, but the physician who was called believed she couild he taken to Beloit safely. A Beloit physician was summoned immediately upon the Carr's arrival at home, said she had died of a heart attack.
Mrs. Carr had been active in civic and veterans circles here. She was the past deputy president of Wisconsin Veterans of Foreign Wars in this city. During her term as deputy president she received a reward in her work in the Tomah, Milwaukee, Waukesha and Madison veterans hospitals. She was a member of the Beloit Naval Mothers group.
The former Mabel Lee Kunzelman was born April 9, 1897, in Leaf River, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kunzelman. She was married to Fred Carr Oct. 30, 1924 at the First Congregational church in Chicago. The couple returned to Beloit to make their home.
Surviving her are two sons, Adney and Don Carr, both in this city, a daughter, Mrs. Helen Ramey, Chicago. A son Meredith Carr, lost his life in the sinking of a U.S. Naval ship during World War II. The other two sons both served during World War II.
Also surviving are four grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Kunzelman, Savanna, Ill., and Paul Kunzelman, Belvidere; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Johnson, Beloit, and Mrs. Jane Heater, Leaf River.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer chapel. The Rev. Walter O. Macuskey officiated. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The family will meet friends between 7 and 9 Thursday night in the mortuary.
