McGAHEYSVILLE - Floyd Grover Hensley, 76, a Rt. 1 McGaheysville saw mill operator for more than 30 years, died early Monday.
He suffered an apparent heart attack at his home and was dead on arrival at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hensley had been in ill health 18 months.
He was born Sept. 14, 1896 at Mt. Pleasant near Elkton and was a son of the late Frank and Virginia Wyant Hensley.
Mr. Hensley was an auto mechanic and operated the former McGaheysville Garage for a number of years. He was also a saw mill operator for more than 30 years. He belonged to the United Methodist Church.
Mr. Hensley married twice In 1918, he married the former Anna Hensley, who died in January of 1945. On June 10,1956, he married the former Mrs. Christine Dovel, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Francis Breeden of McGaheysville, Mrs. Edith Toombs of Vienna and Mrs. Marjorie Stroop of Penn Laird; four sons, Clyde G. Hensley of McGaheysville, Floyd Kenneth Hensley of Rt. 3, Elkton and Jesse and Howard R. Hensley, both of Rt. 1, McGaheysville; a step-daughter, Mrs. Marie Frazier of Elkton; a brother, Cecil Hensley of Canton, Ohio; 29 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home by the Rev. Morgan Kinney and the Rev. Donnie R. Hensley. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at McGaheysville.
The body is at the Lindsey Funeral Home where the family will receive friends 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Relatives will meet 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hensley residence.
Pallbearers will be Delmas E., Darel and Keith A. Hensley, Carlton R. and Steven L. Stroop, Henry McCauley, Curtis Breeden and Robert H. Diehl.
