DRYDEN - Arthur F. Kiehn, 92, a 63-year resident and well-known orchardist of the Cashmere-Dryden area, died Thursday morning, Jan. 4, 1996, in the Cashmere Convalescent Center.
He was born May 6, 1903, to Jacob H. and Katherine (Kammerzal) Kiehn on the family ranch near Ritzville, where he grew up and received his education. He worked with his father on the wheat ranch for many years.
He married Gertrude L. Buddrius on Jan. 31, 1931, in Ritzville. They moved to Dryden in 1932, where they purchased a fruit orchard on Pine Flats. They operated the orchard until 1968, when they sold it to their daughter and son-in-law, LeAnna and Bob Pflugrath. He also was employed by the Peshastin Fruit Growers as a field agent from 1964 until his retirement in 1970.
Mr. Kiehn was a member and was instrumental in the construction of the Grace Lutheran Church in Cashmere. He was a member of the Dryden School Board, Pioneer Fruit Growers and the Peshastin Blue Bird Fruit Growers.
Survivors include his wife, at the home; two daughters, LeAnna Pflugrath, Peshastin, and Lonna Groce, Puyallup; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
