Mrs. Fannie Josephine Baugher Comer, 84, widow of Frank P. Comer died at 3:30 Sunday morning at the Page Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since Wednesday. Death occurred exactly thirty-one years to the day. March 31st, when her husband died in 1932.
She was the daughter of the late Gordon and Nellie Shifflett Baughter, of Elkton, and spent her early life in that community. She was a member of the Elkton E.U.B. Church and was interested in affairs of the community, in gardening, her church and in education as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Comer had nine daughters to attend and graduate from Madison College. She received a commendation from the Governor of Virginia some years ago for her wonderful part in educating her daughters.
She is survived by eight daughters, Mrs. Sam (Mary) Markos, of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; Mrs. Lendon (Grace) Shackleford, of Hampton, Virginia; Mrs. R.R. (Beulah) Huffman, and Mrs. Herman (Brownie) Cave, of Stanley; Mrs. Fred A. (Alma) Shuler, of Elkton; Mrs. Leon (Margaret) Kupiec, of Pittsburgh, Penna.; Mrs. James (Peggy) Sepcic of McKeesport, Penna.; three sons, Frank Comer, of Arlington; John Comer of Pittsburgh, Penna., and Claude W. Comer, of Stanley; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Baugher, of Grottoes, Mrs. Harry Osborne, of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. John H. Comer, of Shenandoah.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Catherine Nichols.
A brief service was held at the home of Mrs. Fred Shuler, prior to leaving for the Warren G. Kyger Funeral Home, where a funeral service was conducted in the chapel by her grandson the Rev. John Johnson, of Roanoke, Virginia, officiating.
… Burial took place in the E.U.B. Cemetery.
