John Henry Cathey, age 54, of Briggsville died Wednesday, September 22, 1976, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a retired Yell County highway worker, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Briggsville United Melodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie Parrish Cathey; two sons, Nickey Cathey of Russellville and Allen Cathey of Briggsville; a daughter, Mrs. Johnnie Caviness of Little Rock; his mother Mrs. Mary Cathey of Briggsville; a brother, Erby Cathey of Melbourne; a half-brother, Earl Cathey of Haskell, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Lois Wayland of Little Rock; two half-sisters, Mrs. Gladys Mathis of Ola and Mrs. Neva Castleberry of Briggsville and a grandchild.

Funeral was at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Briggsville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lee Hankins and the Rev. Hulen Wiser. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers: Active - Terry Sullivan, Keith Briggs, Jim Fred Wood, Charles Carrouth, Jerry Jones and Bill Lofland.
