Corp Donald Warren Morris 1948 - 1968
The 168th Engineer Combat Battalion was constituted on February 25th 1943 and activated at Camp Carson, Colorado May 5th 1943. The new unit trained and conducted maneuvers at Camp Carson and in Tennessee. November 1965, the unit was deployed to the Republic of Vietnam, operating out of Di An with the 1st Infantry Division. Their actions in the Iron Triangle while participating in 11 campaigns throughout Vietnam earned the Battalion the Valorous Unit award and three Meritorious Unit Commendations. The 168th stood down at Ft. Lewis, Washington on April 10th 1970.
Posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
