Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery for Minnie Lou Morris, 84. Mrs. Morris was born in Whittier on July 17, 1930 and passed away in Shafter (Golden Living Center) on September 23, 2014. She moved to Taft in 1942 and graduated from Taft Union High School in 1948. Mrs. Morris was an active member of the Taft First Baptist Church and the Taft Rebekah Lodge #343. She progressed through the chairs of the Taft Rebekah Lodge several times. She also served the Lodge in many District and State offices. Mrs. Morris volunteered as a member of the West Side District Hospital’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Morris; her parents, Marion H. and Mary Plant and her brother, Marvin H. Fair. Her survivors include her husband of 66 years, Florin, her children, Carol (Larry) Rogers and Raymond (Susan)Morris, her five grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the staff of Golden Living Center in Shafter and the staff of Hoffmann Hospice for the loving care shown to Minnie. No visitation hours are scheduled. In lieu of flowers it has been suggested that donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
