Inez Marie Merrill, 87, of Rice Lake died June 7 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home there. Funeral services were Thursday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, with the Rev. Jim Powers officiating and burial in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Dobie.

Mrs. Merrill was born Jan. 10, 1922 to Alex and Lillian (DuBois) Drost in Brill. She graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1940. She married Donald Merrill on Dec. 4, 1945 in St. Paul. She was a nurse's aid at St. Joseph Hospital from 1961-1963 and worked at Herberger's from 1964-1989. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose Chapter 725. She volunteered through the Lakeview Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, gardening and word searches.

She is survived by two daughters, Renee LaPoint of Rice Lake and Lori Dahle of Barron; a son, Dean of Spearfish, S.D.; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Mary Ann Olmstead of Rice Lake; and two brothers Delvin and Jim, both of Rice Lake.

Mrs. Merrill's husband, Donald, and sons Daniel and Ronald preceded her in death.
