She was born April 30, 1926, at Brill to Alexander and Mary Lillian (DuBois) Drost. She attended Brill Elementary School and Rice Lake High School. After her June 1943 graduation, she attended Barron County Normal School for two years and obtained her teaching certificate. She then taught in a rural school northwest of Brill until she married Emil Hrdlicka July 6, 1946, at Dobie. They farmed in the Town of Cedar Lake until they moved to Brill in 1959. She moved into Rice Lake in October of 1998.
She was the organist for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Dobie, for forty years where she was also a secretary, CCD teacher, and involved with many church councils and committees. In 1972 she was awarded the Pax Christie Award from Bishop George Hammes. She served as a foster parent and began hosting foreign exchange students from Europe and South America in the 1970's.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Johnson of Barron; a son, George of Rice Lake; six grandchildren; sisters, Inez Merrill of Rice Lake and Mary Ann Olmstead of Brill; brothers, Gerald 'PeeWee', Delvin, and James Drost, all of Rice Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband in September of 1988, two sisters, and four brothers.
Services 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Fr. Dave Oberts officiating. Burial at the church cemetery.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, from Jarocki Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Rice Lake, with a 7:30 prayer service. Visitation will also be held an hour prior to services at the church.
