Before her marriage Lucile worked at the Overall Shop in Opelika, and later at Pensky's dry goods store in Opelika. Lucile was a devoted wife and mother. She also was active in all areas of work in the Baptist Church. In the early years she played the Old Pump Organ and Marion led the singing, and sometimes they sang duets.
