BRIDGEWATER - Janet Hawpe Glendye, 43, of 406 Barbee St., Bridgewater died Wednesday at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Glendye was born Sept. 6, 1944, in Manchester, England, and was a daughter of Thelma Sanders Hawpe of Waynesboro and the late Charles Kemper Hawpe. She had lived in Bridgewater for 12 years.

She was a member of the Bridgewater Presbyterian Church, the Women's Club of Bridgewater and was secretary of the Women of the Church. Mrs. Glendye was a real estate agent with Horsley-Constable Coldwell Banker Realtors and a member of the Virginia and national associations of Realtors.

On Nov. 22, 1968, she married Tommy Bonner Glendye, who survives. Also surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are a son, Todd Glendye, at home; a daughter, Kristen Glendye, at home; and a sister, Peggy Coffey of Waynesboro.

The funeral will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bridgewater Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Raymond Summerlin. Burial will be in the Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Staunton, where the Rev. Kendall Elmore will officate.

The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. today at the McMullen Bridgewater Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family said contributions may be made to the Hospice at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

The casket will be closed.
