South Muddy Dies.
Mrs. Lucinda Alice Gass, 88 a native of Jasper county, died at 10 o'clock Friday night in her home in South Muddy township. Her death came just 26 hours before her 89th birthday.
Funeral Services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the Headyville church, with Rev. Turis E. Davis of Dieterich officiating. Burial was in the Headyville cemetery with the Reese service in charge.
A daughter of James E. and Mary Warren Worthey, Mrs. Gass was born in Jasper county on April 15, 1862. She had lived in the same home for the past 54 years. She was married to William Joseph Gass on Jan. 6, 1885, and they were the parents of six children.
Surviving are the children, Mrs. Nellie Wheeler and Harry Gass of Lincoln, Mrs. Estella Fehrenbacher of Flora, Mrs. Arca Elkin and Mrs. Dollie Bickers of Dieterich and Mrs. Ada Merry of Effingham; a nephew Leo Wetherholt of Mansfield, who was raised in the Gass home; two sisters, Mrs Marey E. Flash of Gilman and Mrs. Dessie Sutton of Elsworth; and two brothers, Joseph Worthey of Bondville and James Worthey of Chicago.
Preceding Mrs. Gass in death besides the husband were four sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Gass who had not been well for several weeks, recently returned to her home after spending a few weeks in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elkin of Dieterich.
