Born in Kentucky, son of Wm. and Lucinda Ginn Jones, Thomas came to Indiana with his parents as a child. His first wife was Matilda Martin, daughter of Wm. and Mary Ann Tyner Martin. After the death of Matilda, he married her cousin Anis Trusler, daughter of James and Anna Martin Trusler. William Martin and Anna Trusler were brother and sister, children of Giles Martin and Lurleen Moore Martin. The children of Thomas and Matilda were: Mary A.; George W.; Richard; Lucinda; Mary A.; Malinda; Eliza J.; Elizabeth; and Nancy M. Children of Thomas and Anis were: Martin M.; Alice E.; Jonathan; Huldah; Adis (Ada); Wm. T.; and an infant daughter.

Thomas Jones, one of the oldest settlers, and a well known farmer of Columbia township, died Monday morning of pneumonia after an illness. of only three days, aged 77 years. He was a staunch Democrat, and had been all his life' was an honest and upright citizen, enjoying the respect of all who knew him. The community in which he lived has lost has lost a valued friend, a kind neighbor and an energetic citizen. The funeral services will take place Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, Elder Henry Conner, officiating.
