Gladys attended Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She lived in Kaysville, Utah, and worked for Clover Club.
Gladys married Wilkie Layton Barnes December 18, 1950, and their marriage was sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 14, 1969.
Gladys worked for several different business during her life: The courthouse in Sparks, Nev., the REA in Riverton, Wyo., Reliance Life and Causality in Phoenix , Ariz., Garrett Freight Lines and Bidwell Motel as manager and Weston's Lamplighter for 35 years in Pocatello. She retired in her mid-80 s.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings: Primary teacher, compassionate service leader, visiting teaching along with being a visiting teacher supervisor and worked in the temple.
She also belonged to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers , and is listed in the book of "Who's Who of American Women."
Gladys loved to travel, work in her garden, and visit with friends and family.
She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed cooking for her family. She also loved to go shopping. She lived a full and active life for 96 years.
She is survived by children, Julie (Gerald Kay) Peterson, Othello, Wash., and Jerry (Merri Jo) Barnes, Pocatello, Idaho; six grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren . She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 11 siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2007, at the LDS Princeton Ward Chapel, 42 Princeton. The family will meet with friends Sunday , April 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., Pocatello, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at the Malad City Cemetery.
