Pete was killed in an auto accident north of Happy Texas. Four people were killed in the accident.Pete was a resident of Plainview all his life. He married Mae Parks of Liberty community of Nov 15, 1922 and they were parents of 6 children, Edith, Glen, Frankie, Evodia, Nelda & Howard,all residents of 4 miles NE of Plainview.His family consisted of his mother Mrs. John Gipson and 3 brothers, Jasper, Harold and Huck and a sister Mattie Lee Gipson. Jasper was with him in the auto and was the only one to survive the accident. Pete was converted early in life and joined the Finney Baptist Church, later moving his membership to Kress. The body was brought to the Parks home where it lay in state until time for the funeral services

Last Rites Held For Victims of Highway Crash
Funeral services were held here yesterday afternoon for three of the four victims of an automobile-truck crash that occurred Saturday night a few miles north of Happy. D.S. Gipson, Lewis Coffey and his wife Ruby, were buried here. The body of Mrs. Bill Adams the fourth victim of the crash was taken to Fletcher, Oklahoma for burial.
D S. Gipson, 36, one of the victims, was buried at 2:30.The funeral was held at the First Baptist Church with Rev Harrison, Kress Baptist pastor officiating. Gipson was a resident near Plainview and Kress all his life. He is survived by his wife and six children all residence at the home four miles northeast of Plainview, his mother Mrs. John Gipson, Plainview, three brothers, Jasper Gipson Albuquerque, New Mexico who was the only one of the five occupants of the car to survive, Harold Gipson, Lubbock, and Huck Gipson, Littlefield, a sister Miss Mattie Lee Gipson, Plainview. Pallbearers were members of Gipson Sunday School and the wives were the flower bearers. Interment was in the Plainview Cemetery.
