Edith was the daughter of David Salvanus Gipson and Lorena Mae Parks. She married Carl R. Parrish on January 12, 1948. They were parents of one son David Carl b.19 July 1947 and he died 8 September 1947. Edith and her son were killed in an auto accident on the Borger Highway. They ran into the back of an oil field pipe truck that was stalled on the highway. A pipe ran through Edith's body. The baby fell on the floor of the car and a broken rib damaged his heart and he died the next morning.
